When things get tough...it's usually not as bad as we think...lol. Usually when things get rough we tell ourselves in our head oh man this is terrible I'm never going to be able to forget this or get over this hurdle but in reality we're just stuck in the moment. No one can really blame us for this because this happens all the time. When someone is really use to living in the present and something bad happens to them all they can think about is what happened. However if we can attune ourselves to the present even more so then we'll realize that it's all just a passing facade and soon this too shall pass...
...this is not easy to hear especially if something difficult is happening but I think that the more that we can teach ourselves to be present the better we will be at letting go of the past and making sure that we move forward in order to truly find out what it is we need to do. Things are tough sometimes sure but if we can train ourselves to focus on on the present on not on the past (where we were hurt) we will do a better job at truly being happy and unlocking our innermost potential.
Being present isn't something that's always easy but this is why I tell people to meditate more. Meditation helps ease the mind and is a great tough and letting things go. Another great thing that helps bring you to the present moment is exercise! Exercising will help you in so many different ways and will truly be the step that you need in order to truly get the most out of your life and release any stress that you might have had from the day or week before. This is why I always stress to people so much the power of exercise. Exercise is something that's known as an "active meditation" and is something that is really good for the mind, body, and soul. I think that the more people can exercise the more they'll be able to get over tough situations and look at the future with a bright and perky attitude. Sure these things take time as do most difficult things out there in the world but if we can do our best to really make note of these things as soon as we can then we'll have a much easier time getting through to the other side so to speak (great Doors song btw lol) and really make the most out of our situation.
I've been in situations where everything seemed to come in on me, after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder I really thought that my mind and life in general were going to collapse in on me until I saw that nothing really changed about me at all. Just because I had this label on me didn't mean that I was going to be finished forever or that my life was over. In fact after doing some deep thinking I realized that I was going to bounce back better than ever and that I could really do great things with myself if I just mustered up the strength and this is when I started working out more.
I turned a really tough situation into something good and now I'm regularly exercising and feel almost as good as I did before the incident. Of course if get's better with time but is something that I'm always working on and is a big motivating force to keep me on the right side of action as opposed to being on the wrong side.
The wrong side of action is when you're being reactionary and the things that happen to you seem to take a whole new life of their own. This is where things get really difficult and it's very hard for you to be present to the moment and just get through what it is that's happening to you. I always try to take steps to eliminate the stressors in my life but sometimes you must face your demons and this is where exercise and meditation take the forefront in your life and really change the picture when it comes to getting back to your "baseline."
Time to Dig Deep
Like I said earlier when things get tough you've got to dig deep but I really think that this is what makes us the people that we are. If we hadn't gotten through all those tough scenarios then we would have never gone through and really forged ourselves into something much greater and this is really what defines us as people.
What defines us is how we react to the tough circumstances around us and how we deal with our problems and this is never something that's easy. However, if we can stay present throughout it all (or as much of it as possible) you'll soon realize that these things pass at a much quicker pace and soon, before you know it they'll be over and you'll have had the experience of it all and also have the experience of how you coped with it as well, this is a great indicator of future things to come for you and is a great reference point that you can use later in your life whenever things get tough for you.
You have to realize that when things get tough you've got to dig deep sometimes and this is where you really find out what you're made of. I've been through so many difficult things as part of my illness and I really think that this has changed me for the better and has turned me into such a stronger person because of it. If it weren't for these things I'd definitely not be the person that I am (for better or for worse) and I think that whenever something bad happens to me I can look back and say, "You know what, things are tough right now but I've gotten through this before and I'll do it again," and this is how you go through your life (at least how I go through mine) and I think that if you can adopt this attitude you'll be so much stronger of a person and will be able to get through whatever it is that's thrown your way.
A Learning Process
Another great way that I like to look at my problems is as learning processes that I must go through in order to learn more about myself and more about the world around me. These are more than just bad things that happen to me and whenever something like this happens to me I realize that this is for the greater good and if I can make it through worse things then I'll have no problem getting through this and I think that's what makes me such a stronger person.
Things are going to get thrown your way sometimes and it's all about your attitude when dealing with them that makes all the difference. Whenever something tough happens just think of it as a learning experience and realize that soon you'll get through this and you can look back on it and use it as FUEL to get through the rest of your hardships you might have later down the road. Eventually when something get's put on your path and you don't know how to deal with it you'll remember getting through the tough times before that and it'll bring you inner peace and presence which is something that I'm always trying to instill in the people around me.
All in all life never gets easier we as people just get better at coping with these difficult situations and I think that this is really what forges us into greater people, whenever we're going through something tough we just have to be strong about it and realize that this is all happening for a reason and the sooner that we can let it go the sooner that we can get back to our lives. Don't ever let tough things get in your way and don't ever let hardships bring you down, as long as you stay present through it all I really think that you'll get through it and live to see another day.
I'm going to go ahead and cut this article short but if you've got any questions or comments please feel free to leave a comment below, I'd love to hear from you and am excited that I was able to write this article when I did, good day my friends.
